SMARTPLUG SHORE POWER SYSTEM HELPS KEEPS BOATERS SAFE
While many boaters believe the #1 cause of shore power failure is electrical shorting, it's actually overheating due to poor electrical conductivity. Traditional plug designs are notorious for burning out as a result of loose connections and corrosion. The SmartPlug is a revolutionary shore power system designed to replace the outdated and problematic twist-type design in use today. SmartPlug's many features greatly increase conductivity and reduce the possibility of overheating.
Its straight-in connection and blades deliver 20x more contact area, greatly reducing electrical resistance and the chance of arcing. One of the primary causes of electrical arcing and overheating in twist-type designs is the fact that the electrical pins can bear the weight or tension in the cord, and eventually work themselves loose which reduces the electrical conductivity. The SmartPlug's sleeve design means the body of the plug bears that weight or tension, rather than the electrical pins, keeping those points of electrical contact securely connected.
Fully weatherproof, SmartPlug has silicone gaskets to help prevent water intrusion and corrosion, which leads to electrical arcing and overheating. These seals ensure a safe and dry connection.
SmartPlug employs two locking side levers as well as two points of contact on the locking cap to ensure a rock solid connection. When not in use, the cap can be closed without twisting to form a weatherproof seal on the inlet. This multi-point locking system ensures a solid and secure connection from plug to inlet.
SmartPlug is available in 30A and 50A versions at dealers nationwide.
