Minn Kota Announces 72-Inch Shaft Trolling Motors

RACINE, Wis. – For larger boats that require longer shaft trolling motors, Minn Kota® announces a 72-inch option on select Ulterra™, Terrova®, Riptide® Ulterra and Riptide Terrova bow-mount trolling motors.

It’s a fact: Big-water anglers have been asking for longer, wider and deeper boats to target various freshwater and saltwater species, and boat builders have stepped up to the plate and delivered.

Up until now, however, these fishermen had to “make do” with standard 60-inch-shaft trolling motors. The problem is that motors are not long enough to accommodate larger boats, and if a trolling motor shaft is too short, the prop can leave the water momentarily, resulting in cavitation and loss of control.

To address the problem, Minn Kota will now be offering 72-inch shafts on the following trolling motors:

· Ulterra 112 with i-Pilot

· Terrova 112 with i-Pilot

· Terrova 80 with i-Pilot

· Riptide Ulterra 112 with i-Pilot

· Riptide Terrova 112 with i-Pilot

Anglers choosing a 72-inch motor will maintain better boat control and stay on fish-holding structure, even in rough conditions. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price is between $1,659.99 and $2,479.99. Terrova models with 72-inch shafts are available now; Ulterras will begin shipping in fall 2015.
